Pedal and Paddle Edinburgh to Exmouth - using the inland waterways as much as I can

Canoes have been used on long journeys, well I guess for as long as canoes have been around! They're carried or transported by whatever means possible where the water runs out or is unsafe to paddle.

Cyclists have towed all sorts of things, from boats to caravans! My aim is to be unsupported on the tour, with all of my kit on-board for camping and cooking, however...........

I'm not going to turn down the offer of a hot meal, a shower and a bed, so please take pity on a middle aged man who may need some home comforts from time to time.

I'm also very open to people turning up with tea/coffee and cake as I'm rather partial to morning coffee and afternoon tea! Indeed, I hardly function without it!

So why am I doing this? Well a few years ago I cycled the usual John O'Groats to Lands End and realised that there was quite a lot of water in the middle! I thought a combined cycle canoe would be fun and so the conversations started and here we are today.

The charities are all personal to me in some way and all very worthy causes. Most of the donations will go to two local charities in Exeter, Devon.

45% of the money raised will go to Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education as they're moving to a fantastic new college and need all of the help they can get for their brilliant students.

45% of the donations to Headway Devon who do some amazing work to improve life after brain injury. Very sadly my sister died this year after a long battle that started from a serious head injury.

10% to Blesma - These guys and girls are real heroes! I was lucky enough to help out on last years soldier ride and I witnessed what real courage and guts can do. Take a few minutes if you can to watch this short film.
